The land for Old Woodlands was transferred to the Hilton Head Company, Inc
in 1986. 44.269 acres shown as a section of Old Woodlands Plantation EXCEPT land
designated as Recreation Area and Tennis Courts Platt book 33 page 95 ALSO 1.64
acres in Platt Book 19, page 14 subject to an easement ALSO a 30 wide drainage
easement measuring 682 feet recorded in platt book 19 page 14 ALSO 34.93 acres
shown in platt book 32 page 251 for the amount of $3,937,000 ALSO 3 lots in
Indigo Run Plantation platt book 33 page 42. I assume the last bit is a section
of land connected to Gardner Drive.
Island Drive and Indian Trail officially deeded to the county 4/25/84
In 1990 the developer wanted to build a golf course on the wetlands
but the town said no because it is one of the largest wetlands in
existence and that this wetland is extremely important to the supply of
fresh water
Petition by the owners prior to formation of the HOA to oppose an
Affordable Housing overlay for the end of Indian Trail at Gardner Drive
1/3/1992. Later changed to retirement condos.
Developer offers to turn over the pool free of charge but not able
to turn over tennis courts due to mortgage on property 7/28/1992
August 31, 1992 Association notifies Developer of acceptance to
convey the pool facilities to the POA
May 27, 1993 Attorney Mike Olivetti is contacting the SC Tax
Commission to make a decision to the forfeited land commission to turn
over the pool to the association
August 24, 1993 Developer proposes adding 4 lots and a small
cul-de-sac at the end of Indian Trail
March 1994 Indigo Run plans to build an amphitheatre close to Old
Woodlands. RATH "Residents Against The Amphitheatre" formed shortly
thereafter
July 29, 1994 Quit-claim deed for pool but apparently owned by
Kris Kowalski by tax auction
A letter from the association president dated June 1994 states that
12 of the 25 homes of Phase I have recorded declarations to join the
association.
1994 the great flood occurred many homeowners stranded
November 1994 Lots 1,2,3,4 Mystic bulldozed and clear-cut
December 20, 1994 Kris Kowalski sells pool to POA for $2,000
March 1995 board plans a legal action for declaratory judgement to
take possession of tennis courts. Bank that appears to own property wont
return calls.
The town confirms that the pool and tennis courts are open space
and can not be developed 3/10/95
Association discovers that pool was sold at tax auction 4/17/95

Feb 4, 1997 It appears that Eugene Mathews bought the tennis
courts at tax sale

August 1998 board offers payment choices for the 1999 annual

bills from 1998, Proposal to increase assessment base from $120 to $200
per year starting in 1999 to cover actual operating budget deficits

not been filed to date. A business license is being pursued with the
Town.
